Biography of Tara Treiber
“Education is the most powerful weapon with which you can use to change the world.”
Tara Treiber is a passionate and professional educator and education consultant, specializing in marine, environmental, and general science education. She believes in the power of people to change the world for the better, with education being at the heart of that change. She has extensive experience turning that vision in to action, as a classroom teacher, the Education Coordinator and member of the start-up staff of the Oklahoma Aquarium, as Education Director for Heal the Bay and the Heal the Bay’s Aquarium, and as an education consultant working for National Geographic Education, Seventh Generation Advisors, and Los Angeles Unified School District.

TEDx Santa Monica talk on the power of environmental education in a City 2.0
Lead writer and reviewer of National Geographic Environmental Literacy Guides
Developed curriculum for students of all ages and professional development opportunities for teaches of multiple grades and subject matters (some examples can be found HERE)
Served as the organization lead on the Education and the Environment Initiative for Heal the Bay; including developing and leading teacher professional development opportunities on EEI and the Ocean in partnership with National Geographic Education and Annenberg Learner, and independently on EEI and using new technology in the classroom
Venice Chamber of Commerce Education Committee 2021 WAVE Recipient
Tara isn't good at sitting still and has more hobbies than anyone ought to. She loves exploring the natural world and spending as much time as possible in it gardening, boogie boarding, kayaking, hiking, or camping. You can often find her expressing her creative self through crafting, baking, photography, and jewelry making.
